PART TIME STAFF

 

 SWOCC Studios employs both full and part - time staff (as well as interns and co - op students), that  

 bring you the great programs you watch on Farmington Hills Channel 8, Info TV 12, Novi TV 13 and

Hans Ihlenfeldt Production Assistant

Hans is a returning staff member, after completing an internship here at SWOCC, Hans landed a spot with CDTV in the City of Dearborn.   Shortly after that Hans returned to SWOCC as a Part-Time Production Assistant.  He likes long walks on the beach.  In his free time he paints and writes poetry, and he likes to make short films that send him into debt.  He doesn't own any jeans, because he only wears dress pants, and collects action figures.  He roots for the underdog, and enjoys camera work and editing, but secretly loves lighting too.  He reads comics and attended Belleville High School, where he helped start an educational access channel.  He's vegan, but doesn't like salads and he claims he'll name his first born "Xian" (pronounced Shawn).

David Cooper Novi Production Specialist

David Cooper is a graduate of Ferris State University with a
B.S. in Television Production and Film. During his 17 Years of
Production experience, he worked at General Motors,
WNDU in South Bend, Detroit Red Wings and the NHL League
Office and was a Photographer and Editor for Inside Notre
Dame Football.
David Traveled to Ireland, Wales and England for a
Documentary on the 1999 Rugby World Cup.
He loves spending his free time with his children.


 

Katherine Georgas Access Coordinator

Kat, as she's affectionately known, comes to SWOCC Studios from the University of Michigan - Dearborn.  She studied  Electronic Media and Public Relations, graduating with High Distinction.  She has worked in many facets of PEG TV, including producing and project coordinating. Kat has also won  several regional and national awards for productions like the Novi Police Department: 50 Years of Excellence, a documentaryA huge movie and music fan Kat can usually be found rockin' out to her I-Pod while concentrating on her latest project.

 
Nathan Hartwick Production Technician

A multi-award winner, Nathan has worked on everything from local commercials to feature films.  He has been awarded by several television organizations for various projects, including "Down to Earth".  Which can be seen on Farmington Hills Channel 8.  Nate is an avid Triumph motorcycle rider and comic book reader.  His wife Kate thinks the bike is rad, but comics are for dweebs, but Nate's cool with that.  He also shares his down time with his two dogs, Stewart and Natasha and his dumb cat.  He wastes many life hour on the internet looking at animated armless characters. 

Dave Reinhardt Video Playback Operator

Dave Reinhardt showed up on SWOCC Studios doorstep in August of 2003 and never left.  He worked as an intern for a year, working on everything from editing, to on-camera work. He took the helm as Video Playback Operator in 2004 and has vastly improved the operation of SWOCC Studios four channels.  Dave prides himself on getting shows on the channel as soon as possible to help keep the Communities informed.  Dave is also the A/V Room Coordinator for the City of Novi, where he schedules himself and other Staff members to cover the Live City Council and other Committee and Commissions Meetings that are shown on Novi TV 13.  Dave also toiled over this awesome website for months.
 

Steve Merglewski Senior Editor/Graphic Artist

Steve  is SWOCC Studios Senior Editor and Graphic Artist.  Steve has a B.A.A. in Broadcast and Cinematic Arts from Central Michigan University.  
 
Melissa Cohn Community Relations Specialist

Melissa began her journey at SWOCC Studios in 2000.  She wears many hats at SWOCC, executive producing "SWOCC Around the Block", and hosting "Community Connection ", as well as various other on-camera work.  She coordinates all SWOCC events such as their annual Open House, Chamber events, Parades, Blood Drives, Orientations, Tours, and regularly attends city functions as SWOCC Studios representative to the cities of Farmington, Farmington Hills and Novi.  Melissa assisted Dave with this awesome website.
 

Eric Angott Video Operations Manager

Eric is the Video Operations Manager at SWOCC Studios. He is a graduate of Ferris State University with a Bachelors Degree in  TV Production. Eric has been with SWOCC Studios since 1997.
 

Caren Collins  Executive Director

Caren has served as the Executive Director of the Southwestern Oakland Cable Commission since 1994, back when MetroVision was the cable provider. Since then she has seen many changes: The cable operator has switched hands to Time Warner, then Bright House, and AT&T has entered the cable picture; The staff has tripled and so has the number of productions and the work space. In 2002, SWOCC Studios moved to its current 10,000 square foot state-of-the art facility which Caren helped design. Prior to joining SWOCC, Caren was a national TV news talent consultant, a broadcast television news director in Texas and Michigan, and a PR supervisor for AAA Michigan.
Her BA and MA are from the University of Michigan where she also worked with The Children’s Television Workshop (the Sesame Street people).
When she goes home after work, she jumps into her real job: mom to two teens!
