Cultural
Connection gives viewers a glimpse of the many outstanding cultural arts
programs available in our community. Take a tour of our City Gallery, hear
from local artists, and find out about cultural arts classes, special
events, concerts and activities that are available for all ages.
Environmental
Programs
that cover a wide variety of environmental issues from creating a butterfly
garden to helping protect the Rouge Watershed, tune in to Nature in the
Hills and Down to Earth.
Economic Development
A
vibrant community like Farmington Hills depends on attracting and keeping
quality businesses. Residents can learn about the many unique businesses,
products, and services that are available in our community through these
programs. Also look for The Works, only on Channel 8.
Historical
The
Farmington Hills area has a rich history dating back to the early 1800s.
Channel 8, together with the local Historical Commission, produces a variety
of programs that feature historical information, including home tours and
interviews with residents and local history experts.
Teen and Youth
Among
the programs are MYC: Talk and MYC Magazine (MYC stands for Mayor�s Youth
Council). These programs deal with a variety of issues affecting youth such
as drug and alcohol awareness, life skills, and conflict resolution. These
programs, using the talents of the City�s Youth Center and the Mayor�s Youth
Council also give young people an inside look at the many events
and programs that are available just for them.
The 50 and Better Crowd
Mature
Matters, produced in cooperation with the City of Farmington Hills Senior
Division and the Farmington Area Commission on Aging, is hosted by Lew
Cantor and is devoted to issues that affect older adults.
Public Safety
Farmington
Hills Police Department Journal, which introduces the Police Department�s
community policing initiatives that help deter crime;
Fire Department programs that help educate adults and children about fire
safety;
The Emergency Preparedness Video Series gives residents the tools and information necessary to
prepare for emergencies.
Government Programs
The City
began live broadcast of City Council meetings in 1990 to enhance
communications between the residents and local government. Meetings are
generally held on the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th Monday of the month beginning at
7:30 p.m.
