role of the committee?

Serve as a resource to the Southwestern Oakland Cable
Commission

Promote Access TV usage and viewership.

Endorse, support and promote the mission and goals of
SWOCC.
�
Promote public access in the SWOCC communities.
�
Maintain positive community relations.
�
Participate in SWOCC Special Events.
�
Cooperate with and assist SWOCC employees in carrying
out the functions of SWOCC.
�
Encourage the use of public channels among the widest
feasible range of institutions, committees and individuals within
the SWOCC communities.
�
Recruit and support active public and community
access users and volunteers.
�
Increase the level of awareness and visibility of
public, community, government and education access.
�
Increase the amount of local public and community
access programming.
�
Advocate for public, and community access.
�
Perform other functions as may be assigned by SWOCC.

Develop programs to publicize, encourage, and
advertise public access.

Act as a positive role model and mentor for new
access users.

Brainstorm and solicit ideas to promote access TV.

Work cooperatively with staff and volunteers to
execute ideas.

Operate at a grassroots level within the community.

Interact with access users to assist in all aspects
of Public Access.

Use TV as a tool to communicate the benefits of
Public Access.

Attend quarterly work-session meetings
�
Work on promotional projects (monthly).
�
Actively volunteer.
�
Participate
in one training workshop annually and become certified (or maintain
certification) at SWOCC Studios.
�
Actively support public access, SWOCC, its staff and
its mission.
